I am a Louisvillian in heart and soul. I was born and raised in Louisville, and while I left for awhile during college, I eventually went back. Growing up, I always thought I would end up somewhere else. In fact, I didn’t want to end up in Louisville. But as I got older (and had my son), I realized what an amazing city it was and how much I loved it.
Then I met Tom. He lived in Lexington. Not only the home of my University’s rival, but also just not much of a city, as far as I was concerned.
I knew pretty early on that I would have to move to Lexington. I knew Tom was the one and that he had a great job and loved living in Lexington. Eventually the decision was made, and my son and I moved to Lexington to be with him.
I’ve been living here for over 5 months now. And I still haven’t seen much of the city. (I still don’t really consider it a real “city.” There are only about 5 skyscrapers downtown.) I decided it was about time I start settling in and learn to love where I live. It may never be Louisville, but I need to make the best of it if I’m going to spend the rest of my life here, right?
So the other day I decided to go “downtown” for a walk and take some pictures after I worked at a coffee shop for awhile. Thankfully, I have found a coffee shop that I really like. This was a huge deal because I have high standards coming from a city with a local coffee shop on every other corner.
I am by no means a good photographer and do not claim to be. I love taking pictures, but I have had my Nikon D3000 for over 6 years and still barely know how to use it beyond its basic functions. I have a love of old things/architecture, so that is what most of my pictures tend to focus on. I also stopped at the downtown library, got a library card and took some pictures inside there as well (although only one turned out good enough to post).

I don’t know why some of them turned out so blurry. I was very careful when taking the pictures to make sure they wouldn’t be. I have to be doing something wrong with my camera. Guess I need to take a photography class!
While I will always love Louisville the most, I think I am beginning to like Lexington more each day. With time, it will start to feel more like home.
