Kick Up the Energy!

As someone who works out at least 5 times a week, I am often looking for something healthy and clean that will give me good energy to get through my workouts. Some days I’m just pumped and ready to go, but other days, I need a little boost. I talked to some of my good friends over at Vega about trying out some of their products and they were kind enough to send me some awesome samples to see if their products work for me. I wanted to try Vega because their products are plant-based, vegan, gluten-free, and minimally processed, with only the best ingredients. The main product I was trying out was their sugar-free energizer, which is a new product they are getting out, targeting women who want a boost of energy for medium-intensity workouts without all the added calories. They use stevia extract to sweeten it, which is the best sugar alternative out there right now.

So the other day, I tried the acai-berry flavor about 20 minutes because a zumba class. I wasn’t in love with the flavor, but I NEVER like the flavor of energy drinks, and had to keep that in mind! It wasn’t bad, but I don’t think I would be craving it. I’m hoping it will grow on me, like the flavor of protein shakes did! I will say, it was a little grainy, like I couldn’t get it mixed up really well, so I’m thinking about trying to put it in luke-warm to warm water, then adding ice next time maybe? I felt energized and sustained my energy throughout the class, with no jitters or shaky feeling, which often happens to me with energy drinks. And the main thing I loved about it was that I didn’t have that awful CRASH afterwards! I felt just as great after my workout as I normally do and went about my day as normal!

Then I tried the lemon-lime flavor before a light 5k I did this morning. I definitely prefer this flavor, and I think the key will be making sure it is really cold when I drink it, as this made it taste better.

Again, I had a nice boost of energy, no jitters and definitely no crash. I’m feeling great and ready to go swimming with Landon now! My other favorite part about this energizer is that it only has 5 calories per serving, which is a big deal for me since I’m still counting calories and trying to lose some weight, then will want to be maintaining my weight once I hit my goal.

The other products I tried from Vega were their protein powders. Again, they are plant-based, vegan, gluten-free and made from the best ingredients. They have chocolate, vanilla, and berry flavors. I think I have just really gotten used to the chocolate protein powder I’ve been using for the past two years, and still prefer it over the chocolate Vega powder. However, I will definitely be getting some of their vanilla, as I really liked it a lot, and loved putting it into my green monsters in the morning!
